Badass Horror
will bitch-slap you in the face, kick you in the teeth, and burn cigarette holes in your couch. These seven stories, written by some of the finest writers of modern fiction, will dull the pain that Hubert Selby Jr.'s death left in your bitter heart.

In October 2006 I was selected to partake in the Creative Writers Network’s Mentoring Programme, and had the pleasure of working with the award winning Northern Irish writer, Ian McDonald. He read a collection of short stories I’d put together and helped me improve each one over six one-to-one sessions.

In the last three years I have produced a number of short stories, a stage play, a screenplay, a novelette, a novella and two novels. I have now just finished work on my third novel. I’ve learned a lot through experience and the guidance of fellow writers I’ve met through shared small press publications, Live Journal and an online critique workshop, critters.org. During the day, I work fulltime as a part-qualified accountant and I run a blog devoted to Northern Irish crime fiction writers – Crime Scene NI. On top of that, I do my best as a devoted husband and father of two.

My Northern Irish street crime novel, THE WEE ROCKETS (originally titled PIRANHAS), got me noticed by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland. They generously funded this work through the Support for the Individual Artist Programme (SIAP) which allowed me a short break from fulltime employment and some much needed equipment to make my writing life easier. I have also been successful in a bid for an Individual Development Award from Northern Ireland Screen for my screenplay, THE POINT. And most recently I was successful in my second bid for Arts Council (SIAP) funding to help me in the completion of my most recent novel, SHOT.

THE WEE ROCKETS is currently doing the rounds in the publishing world courtesy of my agent Allan Guthrie at Jenny Brown Associates.
